ACUMEN at the ITS World Congress Dubai
ACUMEN was present at the 30th ITS World Congress in Dubai from 16th to 20th of September 2024. This congress is organised by ERTICO every two years in Europe, and every third year in the EMEA region. This year’s congress was the first one in the UAE, displaying Dubai’s innovative landscape.
ACUMEN was featured in the Special Interest session “SIS 85 Advanced multimodal network and traffic management: the latest advances of EU research”. The session was moderated by Evangelos Mitsakis from CERTH-HIT, coordinator of the SYNCHROMODE project. Charalampos Sipetas from Aalto University, in charge of the coordination of the ACUMEN project presented alongside 5 other panelists:
- Giannis Kanellopoulos from ICCS Greece, coordinator of the DELPHI project
- Trond Hovland from ITS Norway
- Pol Torres fro Eurecat, Spain
- Tiago Dias from a-to-be, Portugal
- Dimitris Tzanis from CERTH, Greece, coordinator of the SYNCHROMODE project
Charalampos Sipetas presented ACUMEN’s goals and missions, as well as the current progress of the tasks with an emphasis on current outputs related with data, demand forecasting methods and the ACUMEN Digital Twin.
At the end of the session, there was a vivid discussion that highlighted complementarities among the projects and the goal of utilising and enhancing already developed models/methods/tools from past projects for addressing current and future transport and traffic strategies.
